THE BREVARD WIND SYMPHONY
The Brevard Wind Symphony is a class offered both in the fall and spring semesters each year for any student who has a passion for music and a desire to grow as a musician. The primary objectives of this class are to cultivate a love and appreciation of music through performance, enhance the knowledge and skills needed to be successful musicians, and to understand music's greater role in our lives and the lives of those with whom we share our talents.
THE BLUE STEEL PERCUSSION
Like the Wind Symphony, this class is offered both semesters each year. "The Blue Steel Percussion Ensemble" is a group made up of percussion students whose focus is on learning the techniques necessary to become well-rounded, successful percussionists. Students in this class will study snare drum, timpani, and mallet instruments as well as learning the proper techniques needed to play auxiliary percussion instruments. Students in this class perform independently and with the Wind Symphony. In the fall semester, this class also serves as our drumline for The Blue Devil Marching Band.
THE MARCHING BLUE DEVILS
The Blue Devil Marching Band is an ensemble that rehearses two days a week, after school, during the fall semester. It is Brevard High's largest performing ensemble and is tasked with the important role of supporting our football team and filling the stadium with spirit each Friday night of the fall. The marching band also represents Brevard as it performs for the Transylvania County community and beyond through various events such as parades, festivals, and special ceremonies.
THE PITCHFORK JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The "PITCHfork" Jazz Ensemble rehearses during the spring semester after school. It is made up of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and a rhythm section that includes guitar, bass guitar, piano, and drum set. This group meets twice a week and performs for the End of the Year Band Banquet and for various other events throughout the spring.
